Starting an association?

One of the most challenging aspects is grappling with the reality of limited resources, particularly when relying on voluntary time and assistance. The idea of building and sustaining a thriving association with volunteers can seem like an insurmountable task. There’s a fear of not having enough hands on deck or expertise to tackle the myriad of tasks required to establish a successful association.

Moreover, the uncertainty surrounding roles and responsibilities can further exacerbate these feelings of apprehension. Who will handle administrative duties? Who will spearhead marketing efforts? Who will manage finances and ensure regulatory compliance? Without clear guidance or a roadmap to follow, the path forward can seem shrouded in darkness.

In these moments of uncertainty, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. Many have walked this path before you, facing similar fears and challenges. While the journey may seem daunting, it’s also filled with opportunities for growth, collaboration, and community building.

This is where Bloemfontein Neighbourhood Association Group (BNAG) comes in. We understand the fear and uncertainty that accompany the early stages of association management. That’s why we’re here to offer guidance, support, and expertise every step of the way.

How we can help

1. Registration

a. Assistance with Registration:

If an association is not yet registered as an NPC or NPO, BNAG offers comprehensive support. We understand that this initial step can be daunting for many associations. Our experienced team has already assisted numerous neighborhood associations in registering, streamlining the process for efficiency.

  • Guidance through CIPC Registration: BNAG simplifies the registration process by guiding you through the steps required to register as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). While individuals can attempt this process independently via CIPC’s eservices portal, technical skills and familiarity with company operations are often required, causing challenges for many.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: By leveraging BNAG’s expertise, associations can save both time and money. While registering independently may incur fees for name reservation (R75) and NPC registration (R125), totaling R175, BNAG offers comprehensive assistance for a nominal fee of R500. This includes creating your profile, gathering necessary information in advance, and navigating the CIPC website for future updates or changes.
  • NPO Registration: BNAG further registers your NPC as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) on the government portal, facilitating the receipt of your NPO number. Typically, certificates are issued within 6 months and can be collected by one of the directors in person.

b. Ready-to-Use Solutions:

For associations hesitant to register independently, BNAG offers an alternative solution. We provide all the necessary infrastructure, including NPC registration, NPO number, bank accounts, accounting software, debit order, and card payment facilities, as well as a fully functional website with membership functionalities and email addresses.

  • Cost-Efficiency: By leveraging BNAG’s existing resources, associations avoid duplicating costs and administrative burdens. We create a customized profile for your association, complete with a unique name and logo, enabling you to commence operations immediately.
  • Financial Management: BNAG takes care of all financial transactions, including safety/security costs, park maintenance expenses, etc., through our established bank account. Associations can conveniently track every transaction online via the BNAG website dashboard, ensuring transparency and accountability.

2. Marketing

a. Online Marketing:

BNAG recognizes the challenge that many start-up associations face in marketing themselves effectively, especially when resources are limited. To alleviate this burden, we offer comprehensive assistance in creating and managing your association’s Facebook page.

  • Regular Posts: Our dedicated team ensures that your Facebook page remains active and engaging by posting regular updates. We utilize information provided by you to compile professional and informative posts tailored to your association’s goals and activities.
  • Professional Content: BNAG takes pride in crafting professional and compelling content that resonates with your target audience. Whether it’s highlighting upcoming events, sharing community news, or promoting membership benefits, we strive to showcase your association in the best possible light

b. Sign-Up Events:

In addition to online marketing efforts, BNAG organizes bi-monthly sign-up events in your area to facilitate member enrollment. These events serve as valuable opportunities for community engagement and interaction.

  • Personalized Assistance: Our team is on hand during these events to address any questions or concerns potential members may have. By offering face-to-face assistance, we aim to provide reassurance and support to individuals who may not be as tech-savvy or prefer direct communication.
  • Tech-Savvy Assistance: While online registration is available, we recognize that not all members may be comfortable with technology. Therefore, our team is equipped to guide individuals through the registration process in person, ensuring a seamless experience for all.

c. Business Outreach:

BNAG extends its support beyond member enrollment to assist associations in securing partnerships with local businesses. If you encounter challenges in signing up a particular business, you can rely on our expertise and network to facilitate the process.

By partnering with BNAG, associations not only streamline their start-up processes but also gain access to a robust infrastructure and ongoing support for sustainable community development.
